Why Sustainability is Important to Our Company
A good product today is defined by more than just functionality. Our synthetic liquids come into contact with both people and the environment. Therefore, we are convinced that sustainability plays a central role in the development and application of our products. Liquid sealants should not only be safe and efficient but also health- and environmentally friendly.
We develop synthetic liquids for the protection of flat roofs, balconies, and buildings. ELAPRO synthetic liquids are certified according to ETA 005 and are free from hazardous substance symbols. These qualities underscore our commitment to sustainability, as we create products that are safer for users and gentler on the environment.
Our synthetic liquid formulations are all based on the same principle: health and environmental awareness in the workplace. That’s why we research and work daily to develop products that always meet the latest industry standards and legal regulations.
For us, sustainability means a consistent focus on the long term. Reducing the Carbon Footprint
Our goal is to sustainably reduce the carbon footprint of our company by promoting energy efficiency and conserving resources. To achieve this, we focus on continuously developing our products and manufacturing processes, enabling us to offer ever more environmentally friendly solutions.
When sourcing materials, we ensure that they have consistently high quality and the lowest possible carbon footprint. Where the same quality can be ensured, we also prefer packaging made from recycled materials that are themselves recyclable.
Sustainable Product Development
In sustainable product development, we focus on producing environmentally friendly and low-emission products. We focus on the development and production of synthetic liquids that meet the stringent requirements of EMICODE®, the Blue Angel, and QNG standards. Our formulations do not contain hazardous substances such as isocyanates, plasticizers, or solvents. Since no harmful substances are released, the use of our products contributes to a healthier and more comfortable working environment. Furthermore, we develop physiologically safe primers to create a safer and more sustainable working environment.
Ecological Responsibility
Our ecological responsibility goes beyond reducing the carbon footprint and developing sustainable products. In our production processes, we focus on resource-efficient usage and waste reduction, including through reduced water consumption and the complete use of renewable energy. We have already replaced fossil fuels with environmentally friendly energy sources such as wind, solar, and hydroelectric power. In addition, we aim to reduce waste and make material cycles as efficient as possible. This applies not only to production but also to the entire life cycle of our products.

Product Life Cycle

To support the circular economy, we also offer take-back and recycling programs, enabling our products to be returned in an environmentally responsible manner at the end of their life cycle. In this way, we create a closed loop that further reduces the ecological footprint of our products.

ELAPRO synthetic liquids combine environmentally friendly properties with consistently high quality. We continuously develop our product range to offer an environmentally friendly and sustainable alternative for as many applications as possible.
Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs)
Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are important tools for providing consumers and businesses with information about the environmental impact of products. They contain verified environmental data, making products transparent and comparable.
The creation of EPDs is carried out either by independent organisations or directly by manufacturers according to international and European standards such as ISO 14025 and EN 15804.
Within Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), there are different classifications. Our synthetic liquids ELAPRO 1k-SIL, ELAPRO 1k-SIL blu, and ELAPRO Topcoat receive the highest rating in Group 1, positioning them as leaders in environmental responsibility. They are classified as eco-friendly and sustainable, distinguished by their high efficiency and low environmental impact throughout their entire lifecycle.

Awarding of the Blue Angel by RAL gGmbH
ELAPRO GmbH & Co. KG is the first synthetic liquid specialist for building waterproofing (DE-UZ 233) in Europe to receive the coveted Blue Angel for the environmentally friendly, biocide-free formulation of the synthetic liquid sealing ELAPRO 1k-SIL blu. ELAPRO 1k-SIL blu – for healthy building and renovation.
„Synthetic liquids are required for building waterproofing in exterior areas when renovating existing buildings. They are applied in liquid form to the components to be sealed and, after curing, form a seamless, waterproof layer. Synthetic liquids with the Blue Angel are ecotoxicologically safe in contact with rainwater and minimize environmentally harmful pollutant loads in roof drainage water. This enables an environmentally responsible use of roof drainage water. The Blue Angel for waterproofing products made from synthetic liquids recognises products with harmless formulations, that are manufactured using at least 50% renewable energy, and that meet strict criteria for ecotoxicological effects in leaching tests. Products with hazard symbols indicating environmental or health risks are excluded.“

EMICODE® EC 1PLUS -Licensing with GEV
ELAPRO GmbH & Co. KG is the first synthetic liquid specialist to offer a system that is consistently awarded the EMICODE® EC 1PLUS certification, covering everything from sealing to coating. Rated in the highest performance class as „very low emissions,“ our products ELAPRO 1k-SIL, ELAPRO 1k-SIL blu, ELAPRO Topcoat, and ELAPRO QuickRepair not only meet the highest environmental and health standards, but they will also remain under continuous monitoring by independent institutes in the future.
ELAPRO is an official member of GEV. GEV (Gemeinschaft Emissionskontrollierte Verlegewerkstoffe, Klebstoffe und Bauprodukte e.V.) promotes consumer, occupational, and environmental protection in the field of construction chemicals. The classification system EMICODE®, established by GEV, assesses building materials based on their emissions behaviour – both indoors and outdoors. After comprehensive GEV testing procedures, building products are examined by recognised institutes for the emission of volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds and classified into the appropriate performance categories.

The Product Platform for Sustainable Building Products
The German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) provides the DGNB Navigator to promote and support sustainability in the construction industry. The Navigator offers a platform where manufacturers can provide detailed information about their building products. This includes product-specific sustainability aspects such as composition, origin, and manufacturing conditions. As a result, architects, planners, investors, and others involved in the construction process receive transparent and reliable information to help them make decisions about environmentally friendly and sustainable building products.
We are an official member of the DGNB, and our synthetic liquids ELAPRO 1k-SIL, ELAPRO 1k-SIL blu, ELAPRO 1k-CRYL, and ELAPRO Topcoat are also listed in the product database. They offer certified quality and provide environmentally and health-friendly solutions for various building applications.

QNG – Sustainable Building Quality Seal
The Sentinel Holding Institut GmbH (SHI) evaluates construction products for their health and environmental quality, certifies them upon meeting general requirements and specific environmental criteria with the QNG-ready seal, and makes the results available in their SHI database. The SHI database provides planners, architects, construction companies, project owners, and institutional investors with a central platform to specifically search for sustainable construction products that meet high environmental and health standards, in order to qualify building projects for, among other things, government funding.
Our products ELAPRO 1k-SIL, ELAPRO 1k-SIL blu, and ELAPRO Topcoat have been tested, certified, and listed in the SHI database. The respective SHI product passavailable in the download section documents the following product-relevant criteria and standards: pollutant assessment (according to SHI criteria), DGNB, QNG, BNB, BREEAM, and EU taxonomy.

100% Use of Green Electricity from Renewable Energy Sources
We are actively committed to environmental protection and aim to conserve natural resources while sustainably reducing CO2 emissions throughout the entire manufacturing process. We achieve this through innovative measures that make our production not only more efficient but also more environmentally friendly:
- Electrification for CO2 Reduction: Use of electric devices and vehicles instead of combustion engines
- 100% Use of Green Electricity in Manufacturing and Administration
A key component of our sustainability efforts is the use of 100% green electricity from renewable energy sources. Both in our administration and production, we consistently rely on energy sources such as solar, wind, and water. This conscious decision enables us to completely exclude fossil fuels such as coal, gas, oil, and even nuclear energy. Together, we are shaping a future where economic efficiency and environmental protection go hand in hand.
